Local SEO services for your trade business
Get found by nearby customers in Leicester and Leicestershire. You work with me directly.
I’m Dan George, an SEO consultant with over 20 years in B2B marketing. I help local businesses get found in the places that matter for local search, the Google map pack, “near me” results, and Google Business Profile, so nearby customers choose you, not the competitor down the road.
Everything is dealt with by me. No account managers, no handoffs, just clear local SEO work and a straight answer on what will actually move you up the local results.

What local SEO covers
Local SEO is how a business with a physical location, or one that serves a specific area, gets found by nearby customers ready to buy. It’s a different discipline to ranking a national website, with its own levers:

Google Business Profile
Your Business Profile is often more important than your website for local searches. I optimise it properly, categories, services, photos, posts, Q&A, so you show up in the map pack and the “near me” results where local buyers actually look.

Local keyword targeting
People search differently when they want something nearby. I target the “[service] near me” and “[service] in [town]” terms your customers use, and make sure your site answers them.

Citations and consistency
Your name, address and phone number need to match everywhere they appear online, directories, listings, your site, your profile. Inconsistent details quietly undermine local rankings; I audit and fix them.

Reviews and reputation
Reviews are one of the strongest local ranking signals, and one of the biggest influences on whether someone chooses you. I help you earn them consistently and manage them properly, rather than leaving it to chance.

Local content and on-page
Location pages, service-area content, and on-page signals that tell Google exactly where you operate and what you do, without resorting to the spammy doorway pages that get sites penalised.

The map pack
The three local results above the organic listings capture most local clicks. Getting into that pack, through profile strength, proximity, reviews and relevance, is often the single highest-return activity for a local business.
Local SEO is a different job to national SEO
If you serve customers in a specific area, ranking nationally is not the goal, being the obvious choice locally is. That changes everything: the keywords are lower-volume but far higher-intent, your Google Business Profile matters as much as your website, and proximity and reviews carry weight that they simply don’t in national search.
It also changes the cost and the timeline. Local SEO is often faster to show results than national SEO, because you’re competing against other local businesses rather than the whole internet, and the fixes, profile, citations, reviews, are more direct. For many Leicester and Leicestershire businesses, it’s the most cost-effective SEO there is.
How I approach local SEO
Here is how a local SEO engagement with me progresses.
1.
Local audit
I look at where you currently show up, your Google Business Profile, your citations, your reviews and your local rankings, against the competitors winning locally.
2.
Fix the foundations
Profile optimisation, citation clean-up and consistency, and the on-page signals that tell Google where you operate. The groundwork that most local businesses are missing.
3.
Build local authority
Reviews, local content and genuinely relevant local links, the signals that move you up the map pack and keep you there.
4.
Track what matters
Map pack positions, local rankings, calls and direction requests, and enquiries. The numbers that actually reflect local customers finding you.

Frequently Asked Questions
SEO in Leicester: common questions
How much should I pay for local SEO?
It depends on how competitive your area and sector are, but local SEO is often more affordable than national SEO because the field is smaller. My local packages start at £125 a month. I’ll always tell you honestly what level of investment your situation actually needs.
What’s the difference between local SEO and regular SEO?
Regular SEO aims to rank your website for searches anywhere. Local SEO aims to make you the obvious choice for customers in your area, through your Google Business Profile, the map pack, reviews and local signals. If your customers are local, local SEO is usually where the return is.
How long does local SEO take to work?
Often faster than national SEO. Google Business Profile improvements can show within weeks, and because you’re competing locally rather than nationally, meaningful movement often comes within a few months.
Do I need a website for local SEO, or just a Google Business Profile?
Both work together. A strong Business Profile can win map-pack visibility on its own, but a good website reinforces it and captures the customers who click through to learn more. Neglecting either leaves results on the table.
Will local SEO work if I don’t have a shopfront?
Yes. Service-area businesses, tradespeople, consultants, mobile services, can rank locally without a physical premises customers visit. The approach differs slightly, but the local intent is just as strong.
Want to be the local choice?
If nearby customers are searching for what you do and finding your competitors instead, that’s business walking out the door every week. Local SEO fixes it.
