Link Building Services for Sustainable Visibility

Authority is strongest when built through genuine coverage and earned links.

I’m Dan George, an SEO consultant with over 20 years in B2B marketing. Links still matter, they’re one of the strongest signals of a site’s authority, but how you get them matters more than ever. I build links the sustainable way: digital PR, earned coverage and genuinely relevant placements, not the link farms that put your site at risk.

If you want a hundred cheap links, I’m not your consultant. If you want links that actually move rankings and won’t get you penalised, read on.

    How I actually build links

    Digital PR and earned coverage

The strongest links come from being worth writing about. I create the kind of data, insight and commentary that journalists and industry sites genuinely want to cover, and get you the coverage, and the links, that follow.

    Expert commentary and outreach

Journalists need expert sources every day. I place considered, genuine commentary with real publications through services like Featured and Connectively, earning links from sites you could never buy your way onto.

    Data-led content

Original research earns links at scale because other people need to cite it. I’ve done this for my own business, my Leicestershire Online Visibility Report analysed nearly 2,000 SME websites and earned coverage and links off the back of it. The same approach works for clients with something worth measuring.

    Genuine local and industry relevance

For most businesses, a handful of links from relevant local and sector sources is worth more than a hundred generic directory links. I focus on relevance over volume, every time.

    The link building process

Here is how a link building engagement with me progresses.

Audit your link profile and link gap

I use tools like Ahrefs and Semrush to analyse your existing backlink profile, benchmark your site against top competitors, and uncover quick wins like unlinked brand mentions and broken links you can reclaim immediately.

Vet prospects for real quality and relevance

Not all links are created equal. I vet potential target websites for genuine search traffic, editorial standards, and audience alignment-ensuring your link profile grows with legitimate, contextually relevant sites rather than low-quality link farms.

Prioritise tactics that actually drive results

You won’t get a spray-and-pray email blast sent to thousands of random blogs. I identify the highest-impact strategies for your specific niche, whether that means digital PR pitches, guest contributions, resource page outreach, or linkable asset creation.

    Deliver with total transparency

You get clear, regular reporting on target lists, outreach progress, and secured placements, with no fluff or vanity metrics. And if the honest answer is that your content isn’t strong enough yet for site owners to link to, I’ll tell you that too.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Link building: common questions

How much does link building cost?

Genuine link building is priced on effort, not per link, because the good links take real work to earn. Be wary of anyone quoting a few hundred pounds for hundreds of links; that’s the kind of link building that gets sites penalised. I’ll be honest about what’s realistic for your budget and sector.

Is link building still relevant in 2026?

Yes. Links remain one of Google’s strongest ranking signals, and they increasingly influence whether AI tools cite you too. What’s changed is that manipulated links no longer work and carry real risk. Earned links matter more than ever.

What’s the difference between good and bad link building?

Good links are earned from real, relevant sites because you deserve them, through PR, coverage, genuine relevance. Bad links are bought in bulk from sites that exist only to sell links. Google can tell the difference, and so can I.

    Can’t I just buy backlinks?

You can, and plenty of agents will sell them. But paid links breach Google’s guidelines, and the cheap ones actively harm your site. The links that genuinely help are the ones you can’t simply buy.

How long does link building take to show results?

Earned links take longer to acquire than bought ones, but they’re worth the wait and they last. You’re building durable authority, not renting a spike that disappears, or gets penalised, later.
